I Like to help people, but I won't tell you what to do unless you ask. Below is a list of tips for making Graphics and Websites.
Graphic Help: First off, to make graphics, you really have to WANT too. You can't force it, it's suppose to be FUN, so if your not enjoying yourself, just stop. Everyone makes pictures that later they look at and say, "OMG what was I thinking?" This is totally noraml, so don't worry if you find yourself doing that! I've dumped tons of graphics, Some times they just don't work the way you want them too. Avatars are easy in the sense they are small, (usually 100X100)but, Avatars can also be limting, theres not much you can do at that small size I always tell people to start with Banners, (Or signatures) They are really fun to make, and can say anything on them. (I find myself getting quite obsessed with making them!) Copy and Pasting is the BEST! really, it is great for everything, try putting pictures together just with that, you might find they come out quite nicely I LOVE the airbrush, It's my favorite tool but not all graphics programs have the same type I can't really give anymore advice without knowing what your trying to make, but if you need help, Contact me! Read my Paint guide to learn more! Terms: Pixels - those little dots that make up every pic from a photograph to a painting Airbrush - A tool on graphics programs, usual it makes a nice soft effect As a last note, this is in my FAQ, but I'll post it here too. The Graphics Program I use is called MGI PhotoSuite. It's an older, not-well know program, but I love it. Try many programs, some even have free trials. You have to find the one that works for YOU. Website Help: Some good advice for any site: I HATE sites where the font is too small and/or unreadable because it blends with the background. Try to make Font easy to look at and visable Make sure your pages are labeled, and that everyone understands what they are. Have lots of content on your site, but split it between pages, too much stuff on a page and peoples eyes will fall out (not really, but it is annoying to have to scroll and scroll.....and scroll) FUN. Fun is really important. Not just for you, but also for the visitor. I know people say, "HTML is easy once you learn it" and everyone thinks, "yeah right" inculding myself, but, It's true! once you get past how scary it looks at first, and once you figue out how to do your first HTML tag, you'll be so excited, and it really does it easier! Here are some of the sites I use: http://quackit.com/html/codes/ http://www.devx.com/projectcool/Article/19816 http://www.web-source.net/html_codes_chart.htm http://www.angelfire.com/fl5/html-tutorial/fontlist.htm Tips to get visitors to your site: Okay, so what does EVERY webmaster want??? MORE VISITORS! whats the point of having a site, if no one visits? So, here are some of the ways I get visitors to my site First, tell everyone you know about your site, thats the first step Link your site to other sites that are the same type or focus on the same topic, this is hard, because some website owners are, well, Snoty! lol. But try to get them to visit and link-back Advertise. Go around to other sites and post your link, However, make sure the site will let you advertise, some sites have a no-add rule, and you don't want to get in trouble! Also, if you have a Freewebs site, make sure whenever you visit other Freewebs sites that you are logged in, that way, people apssing though might click on your name and go to your site. Add stuff to your site that no one else has Choose a cool look, and maybe pick a nice background to make it less "boring" Try to get your site on seaches, like Google and Yahoo, it's pretty easy, just visit this page for Google: http://www.google.com/intl/en/submit_content.html And this page for Bing/MSN: http://www.bing.com/docs/submit.aspx Make sure you update your site, otherwise, people won't come back Don't quit! It took me 2 months before I had 1 visitor, and then another 2 months before I had another one! ~Moonclaw~
